Company Description Movu Robotics Innovation, ambitious growth, technology, state-of-the-art robots – that’s Movu Robotics in a nutshell. Due to the in-house design and manufacturing process of our systems, an exciting, hands-on work environment with plenty of challenges and advancement opportunities is guaranteed. Will you help shape the future of intralogistics? Job Description At Movu Robotics, we are developing the next generation of Atlas, our high-density pallet shuttle solution that enables fully automated pallet storage and retrieval in warehouses worldwide. As a Senior Onboard Software Engineer, you will help define the software platform that powers fleets of autonomous pallet shuttles operating in complex, real-time industrial environments. Working closely with software, electronics, mechanical and systems engineers, you will play a leading role in evolving our current platform into a scalable, robust and future-proof robotics architecture. This is a hands-on technical leadership position. You will combine software development with architectural ownership, technical coaching and cross-functional collaboration to deliver the next generation of Atlas. Your responsibilities Own software features end-to-end, from requirements analysis and system design through implementation, validation, deployment and long-term maintenance. Contribute to the evolution of the Movu atlas embedded software platform and its next-generation architecture. Design, develop and optimize embedded software in C/C++, with Rust being a strong plus. Drive software and system architecture decisions for distributed robotic systems operating in real-time environments. Develop robust software controlling autonomous pallet shuttle robots, motion control, communication and system coordination. Apply robotics expertise to modern software architectures, including Model-Based Design where appropriate. Analyse, test and debug complex embedded software to achieve high reliability, performance and safety. Identify technical risks early and drive pragmatic solutions. Lead technical discussions across multidisciplinary R&D teams and ensure coherent product development. Define and promote engineering best practices in software quality, documentation, testing, CI/CD and maintainability. Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers while fostering technical excellence within the team. Collaborate with product management and system architects to translate customer and business needs into scalable technical solutions. Help shape the medium- and long-term software roadmap for the Movu atlas product family. Occasionally support system integration and customer deployments, primarily in Belgium with limited international travel. Qualifications Master's or Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or Industrial Engineering. Extensive experience developing embedded software in modern C/C++; experience with Rust is a strong advantage. Strong experience designing complex embedded or robotic systems. Experience with ROS2 and modern robotics software frameworks. Experience with embedded Linux, distributed systems and real-time software development. Experience with software architecture and designing maintainable, scalable software platforms. Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink or Model-Based Design is considered an asset. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle technically challenging and ambiguous problems. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions across multidisciplinary teams. Experience mentoring engineers and driving engineering best practices. Fluent in English. Dutch is an advantage. What we're looking for We are looking for a senior engineer who enjoys solving difficult robotics and embedded software challenges while remaining close to the technology. You combine deep technical expertise with ownership and leadership. You enjoy building software platforms rather than just implementing features, naturally mentor other engineers, and help define the technical direction of a product that is deployed in demanding industrial environments around the world. If you are excited by real-time robotics, distributed embedded systems and creating the next generation of intelligent warehouse automation, we'd love to meet you.
