The Scientist for Leica Biosystems is responsible for aspects of data generation to support the development of our product portfolio. It is intended that work will focus on Companion Diagnostic product development but will not be limited to this and the successful candidates may find themselves working on a variety of projects as the need arises.
This position is part of the Research and Development (R&D) department located in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and will be an on-site role. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.
You will be a part of the Research and Development team and report to aTechnical Team Lead and will be responsible for all aspects of data generation using our automated staining systems plus producing the required documentation such as plans and reports. THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB INCLUDE:

  • At least a year working within a laboratory environment or have experience working within a laboratory gained within Higher Education studies.
  • Possess a Degree in a scientific subject.
  • Have knowledge of H&S and how this applies to Laboratory environments.

IT WOULD BE A PLUS IF YOU ALSO POSSESS PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN:

  • Experience of Immunohistochemistry (IHC).
  • Experience of working within a regulated environment

Responsibilities:

  • Work on a number of high priority projects and gain insight from others.
  • Become part of a team responsible for the generation of data for a specific project you are assigned to.
  • Learn how to design, perform and interpret experiments on the automated staining instrumentation.
  • Be part of a wider R&D organisation, gaining exposure to a variety of different project types.
  • Learn and implement the process of developing products within a regulatory environment.
