Overview Job Summary The R&D Service Engineer I maintains and services automated instrumentation within the R&D department. This role is responsible for ensuring automated instrument operation by performing installations, maintenance, calibrations, repairs, and other administrative duties. Responsibilities Key Accountabilities Managing the R&D instrument parts inventory Ensuring compliance with all Quality, Regulatory, and Service policies and procedures Ensuring all deadlines are met for the installation of new equipment, corrective maintenance, and preventative maintenance activities Ability to diagnose, analyze, and troubleshoot complex instrument issues to determine root cause and execute appropriate repairs for resolution while communicating effectively, including follow up to technologist reporting the issue Strong triage ability to determine corrective solutions efficiently in a timely manner while managing simultaneous tasks appropriately based on priorities assigned Execute Verification protocols related to software and hardware design changes Prepare automated system environment for verification testing Escalates and communicates unresolved issues effectively Accurately documenting all installation, maintenance, and service activities in a timely manner and according to good documentation practices Completing regular training to stay abreast of current information and sharing best practices with team members and training them as needed Networking/Key relationships Works in cross-functional relationships with verification technologists, integration engineers, other service personnel, and external OEM partners. Qualifications Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Bachelor’s Biomedical/Mechanical Electric Engineer. Equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered. 0-2 years of experience (industry or military) Experience in repairing and using instruments used for diagnostic blood banking, blood typing, and antibody screening, preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology a plus – MT (ASCP) Skills & Capabilities: Good communication skills Ability to communicate clearly; communicating data and details as needed Able to work in a team environment and collaborate Demonstrates knowledge of products, services, procedures, policies, systems, and company organization as it relates to job requirements Displays PC skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and other desktop functions at an intermediate level Travel requirements:N/A
