We are seeking an R&D Software Architect to strengthen our research and development capabilities by establishing robust software architecture standards and cloud-based solutions. This position is critical to our digital transformation, as we require specialized expertise to develop scalable, secure applications that connect our R&D processes with enterprise systems. The position ensures the technical consistency and quality of all projects, optimizes our AWS cloud adaptation, and accelerates innovation through the implementation of efficient development processes. In addition to our wide range of benefits, you can expect an attractive starting salary between €104,800/year and €127,100/year plus a variable component for full-time employment. The starting salary is based on your qualifications and professional experience.

What you will work on with us:

• Designing architecture: You will design, develop, and implement robust software architectures for research and development projects—with a particular focus on AWS cloud solutions.
• Harnessing cloud power: You will use AWS services to implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data processing solutions.
• Evaluating technologies: You will evaluate, select, and integrate tools, frameworks, and templates that make our dev team more productive – with full compliance and security.
• Improving existing systems: You will analyze existing architectures, identify weaknesses, and implement measures to increase reliability, security, and performance.
• Close collaboration: You will work with developers, engineers, and stakeholders from business, IT, and management to translate requirements into technical concepts.
• Mentor & advisor: You will support teams with technical advice, best practices, and architecture guidelines related to AWS, development processes, and platforms.
• Drive innovation: You take on a thought leadership role in the design of new software products – from requirements gathering to structuring new projects.
• Stay hands-on: Where necessary, you roll up your sleeves and get involved – from requirements documents and source code to testing and documentation.

What makes you stand out:

• Solid background: You have completed a degree or training in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) or a comparable field.
• Extensive experience: You have a wealth of experience in complex software development projects.
• Tech stack knowledge: You are familiar with modern web applications, ideally with Angular (frontend), Java Spring (backend), and AWS as a cloud platform.
• Focus on integration: Knowledge of common systems such as SAP and experience in developing architectures that optimally combine existing landscapes are an advantage.
• IoT expertise: Ideally, you have already worked on IoT projects—e.g., with laboratory equipment or in automation.
• Language skills: You are fluent in spoken and written German and English.
• Mindset: You are a strong communicator, enjoy contributing your own ideas, and are eager to work with us to design the next generation of innovative software products.
