The R&D Technical Consultancy Team is a critical function within CBTax, responsible for helping innovative businesses unlock tax incentives for cutting-edge research and development. We work with clients across engineering, technology, software development, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, life sciences, and pharmaceuticals, ensuring their R&D tax claims are technically robust, compliant, and optimised for financial benefit.
As we continue our expansion, we are looking for a highly experienced technical leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our R&D technical advisory services.

We’re Seeking Someone with Experience Including:

• Extensive experience in R&D tax relief advisory, managing high-value, complex claims.
• Strong technical expertise across multiple industries, such as engineering, software, life sciences, and manufacturing.
• Leadership experience in developing and managing technical teams, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with the ability to drive business growth through technical expertise.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to engage and advise C-suite executives, finance leaders, and technical teams

As the R&D Technical Associate Director, you will lead and develop the technical team, overseeing the assessment, preparation, and submission of complex R&D tax relief claims. You will drive technical excellence, client engagement, and strategic development, ensuring our service remains best-in-class.

In this role you’ll:

• Provide strategic leadership to the R&D technical team, ensuring excellence in client service and compliance.
• Manage a portfolio of high-value R&D claims, overseeing technical accuracy, regulatory alignment, and financial optimisation.
• Act as a senior technical advisor to clients, guiding them through eligibility assessments, claim documentation, and tax relief opportunities.
• Develop and mentor the R&D technical team, ensuring ongoing training, skills development, and performance excellence.
• Stay ahead of legislative changes in R&D tax relief, advising both clients and internal teams on best practices and emerging opportunities.
• Collaborate with commercial and tax advisory teams to drive business development initiatives and expand CBTax’s market presence.
• Enhance internal technical processes, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in claim preparation and client service delivery.
