KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • The successful candidate will possess a minimum Level 6 Certificate/Qualification in Engineering, Polymer Science, Quality or a related discipline.
  • 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, with attention to detail and tenacity to remain at tasks is essential.
  • A good understanding of Design History File Management, Design Verification and Validation would be a distinct advantage for this role.
  • Knowledge of MiniTab and Agile PLM software an advantage.
  • Skilled in the use of Solidworks or other 3D Modelling software is beneficial.
  • Excellent written, documentation, and oral communication skills and are fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

OUR PURPOSE

At our R&D Department, in Medtronic Athlone we focus on providing stable, flexible and cost-effective solutions to enhance our processes and systems that produce the highest quality products through the deployment of innovative engineering projects and solutions. Reporting to the R&D manager, as R&D Test Technician, you will have responsibility to develop and validate new test methods and perform Design Verification & Design Validation activities to ensure product design solutions meet pre-determined specifications and intended use.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform functional and dimensional testing of products, using custom test methods and off the shelf equipment to ensure product designs meet pre-determined specifications.
  • Develop and validate new test methods using Measurement System Analysis Tools to ensure all measurement systems are suitable for intended use.
  • Review and analyse test results using Minitab to ensure design solutions are robust and capable.
  • Complete test reports to summarize results for the project team.
  • Provide support to Calibration Engineer on equipment calibration regarding scheduling, issue resolution etc.
  • Support purchasing of Lab supplies/consumables and implement 5s practices.
  • Support shipment of samples etc to global team members
