Description

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • Hands-on experience in testing electrical and electronic systems, preferably in renewable energy, energy storage, or power electronics.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, battery technologies (Li-ion, LFP, etc.), and energy storage systems.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, battery cyclers, load banks, and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience testing firmware updates, debugging firmware-hardware interactions, and validating new feature integrations.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, firmware, and communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, RS485, TCP/IP, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with LabVIEW, Python, or similar programming languages for test automation and data logging.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements (UL 9540, UL 1973, UL 1741, IEC 62109, etc.).
  • Experience with commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage systems, microgrids, and grid-tied applications.
  • Familiarity with environmental and stress testing (thermal cycling, humidity, vibration, etc.).
  • Experience working with BMS (Battery Management Systems) and PCS (Power Conversion Systems).
  • Prior experience in high-voltage testing (100V–1000V) and working with DC and AC power systems.
  • Experience using debugging tools such as serial log analyzers, protocol sniffers, or embedded system monitoring tools.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of inverters, batteries, and whole-home energy systems, including both residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) applications.
  • Develop and execute rigorous testing protocols to assess product performance, efficiency, reliability, and compliance with safety standards (UL, IEC, etc.).
  • Test all new firmware releases, feature updates, and system integrations to validate functionality, stability, and performance before deployment.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D engineers and firmware developers to design and implement test plans, analyze test data, and troubleshoot issues in hardware, firmware, and system integration.
  • Identify and document firmware bugs, communication issues, and unexpected system behaviors, providing detailed feedback to the engineering team.
  • Generate detailed test reports, including failure analysis, root cause identification, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of test data, equipment calibration, and testing methodologies to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Set up and maintain test environments, including test benches, simulated grid conditions, and battery cycling setups.
  • Work with compliance teams to support certification testing and regulatory approval processes.
  • Assist in debugging firmware and software interactions with hardware components.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards, new testing methodologies, and emerging technologies in the energy storage and power conversion sectors.
