Location: Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino Duration: 10–12 Weeks Schedule: Must be flexible with racing schedule, including evenings/weekends/holidays Pay: $16.50/hr Position Overview: Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino is seeking a motivated and hands-on Horse Racing & Track Operations Intern to join our structured internship program. This internship provides real-world experience in live horse racing operations, track maintenance, racing office administration, and parimutuel/simulcast racing within a fast-paced casino and racing environment. The intern will work closely with racing leadership and gain exposure to race day operations, track maintenance, racing coordination, horsemen relations, and regulatory compliance while learning how racing operations support the overall entertainment and business experience. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in sports management, equine studies, business, agriculture, event operations, or hospitality. What You Will Do * Assist with daily horse racing and track operations * Observe race day preparation and coordination * Support racing office administrative tasks * Learn parimutuel/simulcast racing operations and scheduling * Observe horsemen and trainer coordination * Assist with track maintenance operations and preparation * Support race day setup and operational workflow * Attend racing meetings and operational briefings * Participate in structured learning and mentoring activities * Complete a horse racing operations business challenge project What You Will Learn * Horse racing operations and race day coordination * Track maintenance and preparation procedures * Parimutuel/Simulcast racing operations * Racing office and horsemen relations * Event and operational planning * Regulatory and safety compliance in racing * Team coordination and operational leadership * Business operations in the racing and gaming industry Qualifications * Pursuing/graduated with a degree in Sports Management, Equine Studies, Agriculture, Business, Hospitality, or related field * Interest in horse racing or sports/event operations * Strong communication and teamwork skills * Willingness to work outdoors and in a hands-on environment * Professional attitude and willingness to learn * Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
