Description JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible to properly rack, unrack and inspect a wide variety of aluminum parts on and off carriers at a steady and consistent pace that is compatible with Stylmark standards and expectations for work quantity and quality. ESSENTIALS DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Identifies and selects proper load for racking. Receives load information from Anodizing desk. Reviews tag to identify part numbers, load number, and colors. References parts catalog, as required for parts identification. Locates and identifies specific load as indicated on tag. Selects proper racking equipment for load to be assembled. Pulls carrier to loading area, with or without assistance. For 12' stock length racking, determines quantity and size of plastics, bolt-ons and/or clips required for proper extrusion support and electrical connection. For short length racking, designs most effective loading method, determines type, quantity and size of uprights, twist-ons, clips, and bolt-ons. Checks integrity of racking equipment as each racking device is removed from walls; checks clips for tension, bolt-ons for tightness; repairs racking devices as needed or takes them to rack repair for service. Chemically strips splines by hand, when necessary. Places racks on carriers. Lifts racks weighing up to 40 pounds and hangs on carrier at a 6' height. For racks weighing over 40 pounds, assistance is required. Manually sands racking device hooks and carrier bars where conducting materials touch to ensure proper contact. Loads extrusions onto racks, ensuring the most effective loading method is applied and that material is not damaged during racking. Visually inspects each part for defects (scratches, gouges, and pits) or excessive grease; cleans or returns to buffing as required. Cleans end cap extrusions before racking. Lifts each extrusion, with or without assistance, onto the racking device. Attaches and tightens extrusion to racks; uses ratchet on bolt-ons, pliers on clips, and manual attachment on twist-ons and uprights. Inspects and ensures that all extrusions are fastened to the racking apparatus for maximum conductivity. Checks tag, verifies everything is on load according to tag, initials completion. Pushes or pulls carrier, with assistance, over to anodizing area. Ensures safe racking equipment and safe racking area. Takes unusable racking devices to rack repair as needed. Replaces stripped nuts as needed. Ensures plastics are in good working condition. Cleans and picks up area floors, work tables, etc. as needed for safe and well-maintained area. Identifies and selects proper load for unracking. Pulls anodized loads according to priority to the unracking area. Checks tag against load, ensures that load is complete, and marks tag accordingly. Visually inspects materials on rack for color and quality of processing; performs dye stain seal test. Unloads extrusions onto cart and inspects for damage, scratches, dye lines, and other defects. Fills out rework slip and returns defective pieces to appropriate area for solution. Completes unloading log in Excel. Enters information in the ERP system. Initials and dates job paperwork. Unhooks racks and returns them to proper storage areas for reuse. Transports material to appropriate location in the Packing department Returns empty carriers to the Anodizing bay. Inspection of parts. Must ensure that all parts to be shipped or moved to stock location meet all Stylmark quality specifications. Informs Lead, Quality Assurance or Supervisor if there are any quality concerns. Previous racking experience helpful. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Hand-eye coordination. The ability to handle material per Stylmark’s guidelines without damaging the material. Ability to grasp and twist hand and wrists repetitively for extended periods of time throughout a 10+ hour work shift. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds individually and with assistance over 40 pounds during the loading and unloading process. Ability to push a loaded carrier weighing up to 300 pounds at an estimated 50 pounds of pushing pressure, getting assistance when needed. Ability to twist, bend, lift, and reach repeatedly during the racking and unracking process, repeatedly during10+ hour work shift. Ability to stand and walk throughout a 10+ hour work shift. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate clearly within the team therefore making the work of the group successful. Ability to work independently. Position requires the use of near, mid-range and far vision with clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less. The ability to judge distance and space relationships and see objects where and as they are. The ability to identify and distinguish colors. The ability to observe up and down and to the right and left. Responsibilities
The Racker/Unracker is responsible for properly racking and unracking aluminum parts on carriers while maintaining Stylmark standards for quantity and quality. They must also perform visual inspections of parts for defects and ensure all equipment is safe and properly maintained.
