Job Summary The Radiology Technologist / Mammographer performs diagnostic imaging procedures including general radiography and mammography to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This dual-skilled role ensures quality imaging, patient safety, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The technologist works collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Essential Functions Performs radiologic exams including general X-ray and screening and diagnostic mammography in accordance with physician orders. Positions patients and selects appropriate imaging parameters based on established protocols and patient condition. Prepares and operates radiographic and mammographic equipment safely and efficiently. Reviews images for quality, accuracy, and completeness prior to submission for interpretation. Assists radiologists during specialized procedures including diagnostic mammograms and breast localization. Maintains accurate documentation and imaging records within PACS/RIS systems. Adheres to ALARA principles and radiation safety guidelines. Ensures proper infection prevention practices and maintains cleanliness of equipment and exam rooms. Provides clear instructions and compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging process. Reports equipment malfunctions or safety concerns and follows established downtime procedures. Participates in quality assurance activities and supports compliance with ACR, FDA, and MQSA standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of radiographic and mammographic techniques, anatomy, and safety standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and teamwork. High attention to detail and accuracy in imaging, documentation, and workflow processes. Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates professionalism, confidentiality, and patient advocacy at all times. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Education Postsecondary certificate, diploma, or program graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. (Required) Licenses/Certifications ARRT Radiography Certification and state-specific licensure, where required. (Required upon hire) Mammography certification through ARRT or ARDMS (M) with applicable state licensure where required. (Required upon hire) Experience One (1) or more years of experience in diagnostic radiography. (Required) Prior experience in mammography. (Preferred)
