Description

BONUS POINTS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Experience with advanced target detection/classification techniques, e.g., CFAR, STAP, machine-learning-based classifiers.
  • Familiarity with phased-array radar architectures, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), moving target indication (MTI), or related subsystems.
  • Hands-on experience with software-defined radar platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming (C/C++, Python, VHDL/Verilog, or FPGA-focused languages).
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The target base pay for this position is $120,000 - $200,000 annually. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed.
This role requires access to controlled technical data. Under U.S. law (ITAR/EAR), we can only consider U.S. persons (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals granted asylum or refugee status).
E-Space is not currently able to provide employment sponsorship for candidates who do not hold work authorization for the location of this role.
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Modeling and Simulation
  • Develop and implement mathematical models of radar signal processing chains for phased arrays
  • Simulate radar waveform generation, echo processing, clutter mitigation, and target detection under diverse environmental and operational scenarios.
  • Analyze the impact of signal distortion, noise, multipath, and Doppler effects, proposing advanced mitigation strategies.
-

Algorithm Design and Development

  • Use MATLAB to simulate advanced algorithms for radar waveforms, pulse compression, Doppler processing, clutter suppression, and target classification.
  • Use simulations to inform hardware design decisions
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration of signal processing modules into radar payloads.

-

Performance Analysis

  • Perform comprehensive analysis of radar performance: detection range, resolution, probability of detection vs. false alarm, tracking accuracy.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and ensure compliance with system specifications and mission objectives.

-

Documentation and Reporting

  • Document design procedures, simulation outcomes, test results, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visualizations for internal stakeholders and external partners.

-

Innovation & Collaboration

  • Stay abreast of the latest radar and sensor signal processing advancements; integrate novel techniques into design processes.
  • Work cross-functionally with systems architects, hardware engineers, software developers, and test teams during integration and field trials.
  • Participate in design and code reviews; offer constructive feedback.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THIS ROLE:

  • 5+ years of experience in radar simulation or a closely related field.
  • Strong foundation in digital signal processing, radar theory (e.g., range-Doppler, pulse compression), and target detection methodologies.
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent environments.
  • Experience with radar systems design, performance analysis, and field testing.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills—strong team collaborator who can also work independently.
