This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. and provide services outlined below: International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. is looking for an individual who is an experienced Radiation Oncologist to treat cancer patients using radiation therapy as a primary or adjuvant treatment modality. This role involves assessing patient conditions, designing and implementing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and manage side effects. Evaluate and diagnose cancer patients, determining the appropriateness of radiation therapy as part of their treatment plan. Design and implement individualized radiation therapy treatment plans, ensuring accurate dosage and technique tailored to each patient’s needs. Justify and oversee techniques consistent with standards: Conventional External Beam, Three‑Dimensional Conformal Radiation Therapy (3D‑CRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Intensity‑Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image‑Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, and radiation physicists, to discuss patient care and treatment options. Monitor and manage patients throughout their radiation therapy course, addressing any side effects or complications that may arise. Conduct follow-up evaluations to assess treatment efficacy and make necessary adjustments to therapy as required. Educate patients and their families about radiation therapy, its benefits, potential side effects, and the overall treatment process. Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Participate in clinical research and continuing education to stay current with advancements in radiation oncology practices and technologies. Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies. Qualifications Basic Requirements/Certifications: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a physician from any U.S. State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or equivalency. Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in the specialty of Radiation Oncology. Education Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) ‑ accredited Radiation Oncology Residency (standard for privileging). Physical Requirements: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs. Other Special Qualifications: Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. Additional information required for final submission: Enhanced Resume License/Real ID Board Certification DEA NPI Evidence of Meeting Continuing Education Requirements Please note that the resume must include the following experience: Treating patients with radiation, the radiation oncologist prescribes a treatment regimen (including the radiation dose) whose goal is to cure or control the disease while minimizing complications to normal tissues. Delivery of treatment in an accurate and consistent manner. Radiation Oncologist with delineated hospital privileges may be responsible for consultation, dose prescription, on-treatment supervision, and treatment summary reports. They should be certified by one of the recognized boards (the American Board of Radiology or its equivalent). We recommend that the radiation oncology representative in the QA team be certified by one of these boards. QA should be regularly performed on the treatment planning system. Treatment planning is a process that begins with patient data acquisition and continues through graphical planning, plan implementation and treatment verification. It entails interactions between the radiation oncology physicists, dosimetrists, radiation oncologists, and radiation therapists, also the use of many software programs and hardware devices for graphical treatment planning. Each step of the complex treatment planning process involves several issues relevant to quality assurance. Prescriptions: Strongly recommend that the prescription be written, signed, and dated by the radiation oncologist prior to treating the patient.
