Description EXEMPT. This position is responsible for implementing the project radiation protection program at the Former Harshaw Site in Cleveland Ohio. Duties · Ensure radiation safety procedures are being correctly implemented. · Provide training to project personnel on radiation safety topics commensurate with assigned duties and responsibilities. · Address occupational safety hazards and hazard controls when designing or modifying new processes (with emphasis on hazard elimination). · Identify radiation hazards and hazard controls during work planning and development of hazard analyses/controls for each task. · Ensure radiation safety equipment, tools and materials necessary for task execution are available, calibrated and tested. · Ensure personnel participate in a readiness demonstration prior to performing a task. · Perform work area inspections prior to the start of work and periodically through execution. · Inform personnel of results if exposure monitoring is conducted. · Generate radiation safety records in accordance with the radiation protection plan. · Identify, correct, and communicate program performance issues · Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements · A college degree from an accredited school in health physics, engineering, science or related field. · A minimum of 10 years of experience in the development and/or management and implementation of radiation safety programs for HTRW remediation, facility decontamination and decommissioning, or other projects with hazards similar to the Harshaw site. · Professional health physics certification (Certified Health Physicist - CHP) or demonstrated completion of specialty training including, but not limited to: -Radiation safety instrumentation -Air monitoring (occupational and effluent) -Shielding -Internal and external dosimetry -Non-destructive assay (gamma spectroscopy) -Laboratory assay (alpha spectroscopy, gross alpha/beta counting and liquid scintillation counting). -MARSSIM implementation 8 -Respiratory protection · A minimum of two years of experience in management or supervision of technical and field staff. · A minimum of two years of experience in final status survey plan development and/or implementation in accordance with MARSSIM. · Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local occupational safety and health regulations. Working Conditions Moderate travel required to various job sites, pre-proposal site works, company offices as appropriate and other business and/or compliance meetings. Site visits may require wearing appropriate protective clothing.
