Overview Performs Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) duties in accordance with State and National Regulations. RSO is responsible for the safe use of radioactive materials in compliance with all department, state, and federal regulations. Qualifications Required Education: -High School Diploma and Vocational Training. -Specific course work: RSO preceptor training documentation -AND- RSO attestation requirements, as specified in FL FAC 64E-5.648. Preferred Education Advanced degree in health physics, radiological sciences, physics, or related field Required Licensure/Certifications RSO preceptor training documentation -AND- RSO attestation requirements as specified in FL FAC 64E-5.64 Preferred Licensure/Certifications Current RSO Certificatio Required Experience Two (2) years� experience in nuclear medicine under the supervision of a certified medical physicist or one (1) year of full-time radiation safety experience under the supervision of an RSO Preferred Experience Prior experience as RSO within a hospital settin Supervision Number of Employees Supervised: N/ Budgetary Responsibility N/ Necessary Skills 1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skill 2. Ability to work under pressure to complete deadlines 3. Demonstrate appropriate computer skills 4. Familiar with imaging equipment 5. Ability to perform calculations pertaining to RSO duties Age of Patients Served All Age Group
