Our Technical, Advisory, and Capability (TAC) practice and Team Downe r serves as one of the Major Service Providers delivering consulting services and Integrated Work Packages across the Department of Defence, leveraging innovative approaches such as mission and digital engineering to enable the successful delivery of critical Defence programs. This includes engagement with key areas across Defence including Defence Digital Group (DDG), Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), and the Navy, Army, and Air Force.

Team Downer is currently recruiting a RF Engineer based in Canberra or Melbourne in support of a Land project to:

  • Contribute to project scopes for TCN and BTN to ensure capability delivery within agreed parameters.
  • Develop strategies and evaluate product outputs, covering reporting, stakeholder engagement, configuration management, security accreditation, system reviews, change management, and engineering governance.
  • Collaborate within a small engineering team.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks proactively.
  • Represent the Commonwealth during contractor-led system testing.
  • Provide expert advice to stakeholders, including Capability Manager, contractors, and FIC stakeholders.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or 12+ years of industry/domain experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Defence Technical Authority Level 4 or higher.
  • Expertise in BTN and TCN, including TCN Waveforms.
  • Knowledge of the ADF Land C4 environment and Army’s BTN and TCN implementation.
  • Experience in verification testing of Land communications networks.
  • Familiarity with Systematic Sitaware BMS products and US Army Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK).
  • Understanding of security principles for deployable communications networks.
  • Knowledge of legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks for capability solutions.
  • Experience in developing and implementing work plans for project success.
  • Defence and/or CASG experience and knowledge of One Defence capability planning and program gate review processes. Ideally previous experience with Army Acquisition Projects.
