JOB OVERVIEW

Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist- Lake Nona ASC
Provides support to physicians during both invasive and non-invasive procedures. Assists with pre- and post-procedural patient care as appropriate. Operates all equipment safely and accurately in accordance with established protocols. Maintains inventory, orders necessary supplies, and ensures the operational readiness of the Cardiovascular Cath Lab. Collaborates closely with physicians and facility staff, maintaining continuous communication regarding patient status.

SKILLS

  • Licensed as a Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Certified/Registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International, or Certified/Registered as a Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) through an accredited school or program.
  • Documentation of 2-3 years of Cath Laboratory work experience required.
  • Current BLS certification required and ACLS certification (trained/obtained within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities
  • Delivers quality service and positive interaction with our customers while performing the tasks within this job description. Assumes care for the physical needs of the patient during examinations and procedures.
  • Assists with preparing patient for procedure, and assisting with care post procedure as licensure/certification allows.
  • Operates imaging equipment, scrubs and assists physicians in the detection and localization of patient anatomy during diagnostic and interventional procedures within the Cath lab.
  • Provides protection to patients, family members, coworkers and self in accordance with radiation safety standards. Observes patient and equipment during procedures, documents patient reactions or problems on requisitions and reports immediately to supervisor.
  • Records key events occurring during the procedures and enters procedural notes and supplies via the physiological computer system. Monitor and records ECG and pressure waveforms during the procedure.
  • Assists physicians in detecting and localization of patient anatomy utilizing proper positioning and establishment of appropriate technical factors and sterile techniques.
  • Assists with the care and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Cleans assigned area and maintains stock supply through inventory control.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as a team member with other staff, assist physicians and assist with interpretation of data collected.
  • Maintains license requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Proficient in interpreting EKG, cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic pressure tracings (trained/obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Operates different equipment: x-ray table, camera, hemodynamics, ultrasound machines, and pressure injectors.
