Description
Under general supervision of the Imaging Manager, prepares equipment and patients for radiographic procedures. Safely and accurately performs radiographic procedures and functions, as ordered and directed according to established practices and procedures. Maintains safe environment to deliver highest quality patient care and accurate imaging. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Every effort has been made to make this job description as complete as possible. Proper setup, use and operation of X-ray equipment, utilizing correct settings for each examination. Positions and instructs patients, and determines proper exposure factors for each radiograph. Proper setup, use and operation of mobile X-ray equipment. Uses proper safety standards and radiation protection devices. Under direction of Radiologist, administers contrast media of different kinds for evaluation of internal organs and systems. Attends all in-services and meetings as required. Maintains patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI. Abides by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct. Maintains a safe work environment and reports safety concerns appropriately. Performs other related duties as assigned. LATITUDE, CONTACTS/INTERACTIONS All positions of Huntsville Memorial Hospital are part of an interdisciplinary team, and as such, participate in the care and service delivery process through effective interaction with other team members. Primarily interacts with hospital staff, medical staff, patients, and visitors. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Completion of formal radiology technology program required. Experience: None required, one year of experience preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current State of Texas license required. Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment, before patient care is administered independently. Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Medium strength is required to position patients for examination or treatment. Frequent: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing & walking. Occasional: reaching, bending, squatting, climbing kneeling, twisting. Visual and hearing acuity required; depth perception needed to examine exposed film for pertinent details. Work is mostly inside, with good ventilation and comfortable temperature. Possible exposure to: toxic/caustic chemicals or detergents, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, radiant energy, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens.
