THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an a Manager Rail Permanent Way Engineer with excellent technical knowledge and experience as a valued and integral part of our Dublin Rail team. With a desire to deliver meaningful work with successful outcomes for our clients through innovative solutions, we are on the road to expanding our growing team and capabilities. This is a very senior role within Arup therefore several years experience is required.

The primary focus of this role will be to drive and successfully deliver complex multi-disciplinary rail projects using sound technical knowledge and coherent advisory skills. All the while ensuring the successful delivery of safe, technically excellent multidisciplinary rail projects and bids across our portfolio will be critical to your role, and you will be responsible for:

  • Determining the track design requirements from our client brief making sound decisions to produce the optimum design solution.
  • The technical design input on rail projects and will lead and mentor the design management team, and support track discipline on projects, coordination and managing all the necessary interfaces and input that are required to deliver a railway design
  • Collaborating with relevant external parties to ensure an understanding of the client’s needs and project requirements
  • Liaising regularly with staff managers and other technical leads, and team leaders

DOES THIS ROLE INSPIRE YOU?

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about rail and delivering sustainable projects of the highest quality. We also value:

  • Experience in the production and checking of Permanent Way Feasibility Scheme and Detailed Design reports, layouts and calculations within multidisciplinary rail projects to include, but not limited to, Station throat design; S&C renewal; Plain line renewal; Infrastructure gauging and production of Gauging Reports
  • Experience with industry standard software: Bentley Rail Track; Clear Route 2; Track-Ex; SD calculator
  • Experience in the production and checking of drawings using Bentley Microstation whilst working within Common Data Environments, as well as working within relevant legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice, and guidelines (CDM and CSM)
  • Knowledge of Rail Standards and Technical Specifications
  • An appropriate Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • Chartership or soon to achieve professional certification/membership
