Great Western Railway Ltd., Saskatchewan’s largest short line railway, is recruiting casual/part time conductors, locomotive engineers, and/or trackmobile operators to be based out of Assiniboia and/or Moose Jaw, SK. GWR, celebrating our 25th anniversary, was established in 2000 and operates over 400 miles of track in southwestern Saskatchewan where we proudly serve shippers in various industries including agriculture and energy. We seek new team members as we are currently expanding our services to include servicing the track, mechanical, and operating needs of other short line railways and industrial sites throughout Saskatchewan.
Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
- Compliance with all Safety Rules, Procedures, and Regulations.
- Oversee safe movement of trains over our operating network, and on customer industrial sites
- Switching cars.
- Making or splitting up trains in yards.
- Moving cars between yards, sidings or other tracks.
- Conduct train inspections.
- Operate switches, coupling cars.
- Giving and receiving signals.
- Completing all digital and paperwork reporting.
- Operating locomotive or other railcar moving equipment.
- These positions may have responsibilities in training and developing employees at our customer’s industrial site facilities throughout Saskatchewan
-These positions will be required to be qualified with successful completion and examination of all regulatory and GWR rules and safety requirements.
- These positions will be required to do some overnight travel on occasion. Meals and travel expenses will be paid by GWR in these cases.
- We provide a tentative shift schedule plan for the following week to allow for your planning and work life balance priorities, and some short notice call out opportunities may arise.
-This job involves outdoor work in all weather conditions.
-Basic computer skills are required
-Minimum 1 year experience as a qualified railway Conductor, or Locomotive Engineer or railcar mover operator is required for each of these positions.
