JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Ranch Hand to join our team in Waldeck Saskatchewan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the daily care and management of livestock in a varied environment. This role requires physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and the ability to operate farm machinery effectively. As a Ranch Hand, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Expert ability to ride horses considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working with livestock is preferred but not required.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot basic machinery issues.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) regularly throughout the day.
  • Familiarity with farm machinery operation is essential; training may be provided for specific equipment.
  • Must be physically fit, able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and stand for long periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare is crucial.
  • A valid driver’s license (1A will be an asset) will be required for operating vehicles on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Ranching activities and maintenance.
  • Feed and water livestock according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
  • Monitor animal health and report any signs of illness or distress to management.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery, including tractors and feed mixers, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Assist with the movement of livestock within the feedlot as needed.
  • Perform heavy lifting tasks, including loading and unloading feed and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of feeding areas, barns, and equipment storage.
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your coworkers.
  • Participate in routine maintenance tasks on farm machinery as required.
