Responsibilities

As a Ranger, you will provide recreation services for the public, including engaging with visitors, undertaking grounds maintenance/conservation tasks, maintaining visitor infrastructure, as well as occasionally supporting the operational team to maintain the reservoirs.
Alongside this, you will support the team delivering Wessex Water fisheries, which includes providing excellent customer service, helping with bookings, fish stocking, and handling payments/banking.

Activities will include:

  • helping to maintain safe and welcoming visitor spaces
  • caring for the estate and the environment
  • regularly liaising with local stakeholders and visitors at reservoirs
  • supporting coarse and game fishing
  • supporting other business areas, such as Conservation, Environmental Investigations, Operations and Community Engagement
  • working with community groups and charities.

Please note this is not your usual nine-to-five job, during the summer months you will be working extended hours to assist reservoir users including evenings, split shifts and weekends.
The role will also require travel between a number of Wessex Water sites, mainly in the Somerset area.
