YOU ARE:

UST is looking for a RANS Validation Engineer with a strong background in telecom systems, software validation, and automation for 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies. The ideal candidate will lead and execute validation efforts, debug complex issues, and ensure product reliability and compliance with industry standards.

The opportunity:

  • Plan, develop, and execute system validation and regression test cases for RAN software components
  • Validate 4G/5G Layer 1/2/3 protocol stacks in lab and simulated environments
  • Perform end-to-end functional, interoperability, performance, and stress testing
  • Debug and triage issues at protocol, software, and system levels; work with dev teams for resolution
  • Automate test cases using Python, Robot Framework, or similar tools
  • Maintain test coverage metrics, test results dashboards, and documentation
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for test execution and result tracking
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (integration, firmware, system, field test)
  • Support customer validation and field deployment issue reproduction

What you need:

  • Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field
  • Required Skills:
  • 10+ years of experience in system validation or software QA, with focus on telecom or wireless products
  • Strong understanding of 3GPP standards, RAN architecture, and telecom protocols
  • Hands-on experience validating Layer 1 (PHY), MAC, RLC, PDCP, and RRC
  • Solid scripting skills in Python or similar language
  • Strong Linux and networking fundamentals
  • Familiarity with test tools like Spirent, IXIA, Wireshark, TM500, or similar
  • Expertise in bug tracking and test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Desired Skills:
  • Experience with O-RAN architecture and Open RAN testing frameworks
  • Experience with DPDK-based validation or low-latency networking
  • Understanding of virtualization and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based RAN deployments and orchestration tools

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
