POSITION SUMMARY

This is a unique opportunity for dedicated individuals to work with the Rapid Response Northern School Team (RRNST) to support First Nations youth in grades K-12. The RRNST is composed of highly-trained and experienced KPDSB school board employees. This team includes certified educators, principals/administrators, and related positions. The RRNST is mobilized and assigned rapidly in order to respond to urgent and non-urgent requests made by local and remote First Nation communities so community schools remain open and staff are supported to deliver programs and support to students during or following community crisis. The team also provides ongoing educational support to schools in First Nations communities with the purpose of improving education and well-being outcomes for First Nations students.
A RRNST First Nation Graduation Coach/Student Support Position will provide support to Educators and First Nations students. Different than a teacher, an education assistant or counselor, this Team Member is a mentor, a connector and an advisor. The RRNST team members act as professional members of the school, are integral to student success teams, and as such play an essential role as advocate for students in local and remote schools with teachers, other school staff, families, and communities.
