ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Role: Rating Analyst
Grade ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 09
The Location: Bogota, Colombia
The Team: The Rating Analyst is an i ndividual c ontributor, but also a team player who builds strong relationship s with the team.
The Impact: Responds to questions from investors and issuers. Participates in meetings and on-site visits in Colombia and Panama with debt issuers and their representatives as assigned. Prepares material for BRC Ratings a Company of S&P Global publication and participates in ad hoc projects.
Under direct management analyzes routine and some non-routine analytical or business problems as directed; develops own industry knowledge; identifies industry risk factors.
This position will have exposure to market leaders and senior analysts and grow inside the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyzes the financial statements of the companies of a portfolio of medium size and/or complex entities with support from manager and senior analyst.
Conducts surveillance of rated debt issues and issuer’s ratings; may act as a primary analyst for less complex entities.
Demonstrates an understanding of rating principals, working knowledge of BRC S&P Ratings criteria and contributes to researching criteria development needs .
Contributes to the analysis of credit using BRC Ratings - S&P Global’ s rating methodology and standards, Excel, financial models, financial data, and financial statement analysis .
Maintains a centralized source of news information, including digital media, and carries out research for monitoring of the industry including examining corporate or municipal financial information .
Supports team in spreadsheet and database development, maintenance, and analytics which includes extracting financial and economic data from source materials and inputting into group/company applications and performing financial modeling.
What We’re Looking For:Basic Qualifications:
Postgraduate studies in a business-related field such as economics, business, or financial engineer ( and may be pursuing an advanced or business degree )
3-5 years of work experience in market risk and credit risk analysis for a financial institution (brokerage, trust companies, insurance and banks).
Advanced Microsoft Office tools (mainly advanced Excel skills)
Advanced/bilingual English level ( B2+ or C1 )
