Responsible To: Raw Materials Team Leader
About the Role: As a key member of the Raw Material team, you will be tasked with quality-testing, receipting, and assigning fibres for our mills in Elgin and Hawick. This role also involves creating purchase orders, issuing lot numbers, running raw material reports, managing spreadsheets and databases, checking for late deliveries, liaising with internal stakeholders on fibre-related issues, and suppliers on fibre shipments and documentation.
This is a permanent, part time opportunity working 20 hours per week.
Salary is starting from £12,916.80 per annum (pro rata for 20 hours per week), with the full time equivalent £24,541.92 per annum, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Fibre quality testing, including test for fibre diameter, length, shade, detecting coarse hair content, dark hair count, vegetable matter count, contamination assessment, recording moisture content and so on.
  • Receipting, scheduling and assigning raw materials for all production.
  • Managing raw materials (fibre) inventory across our depots.
  • Calling off raw materials from our warehouse partners and liaising with warehouse partners on raw materials transportation and storage.
  • Administration of new bills of materials (BOMs) onto the production scheduling boards.
  • Creating purchase orders for approved fibre purchases and communicate POs to vendors.
  • Assist in approving supplier’s samples against contract for onward shipment to delivery location.
  • Handling paper works/correspondences on raw materials and maintaining/creating various spreadsheets for data on raw materials (including as relating to sustainability programmes).
  • Working with planning, production, procurement, dyehouse and other internal stakeholders to support smooth running of our supply chain operations.
  • Support in creating, setting up and implementing new fibre blends.
  • Prepare and send fibre samples for external composition tests with the right documentation.
  • Provide support in assessing any risk associated with the quality of raw materials.
  • Assist with data entry and provision of cover within the raw material team.
  • Managing the raw material sample library.
  • Assist team with “by-product” materials and “redundant yarn” stock sales and stock management.
  • Working with computer and IT systems to manage the aforementioned tasks.
