Job Description The Railway RAMS Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety (RAMS) of railway systems throughout their lifecycle—from design and development to operation and maintenance. This role is critical to guaranteeing that the railway system performs efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime. Specific Responsibilities: At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct Evaluate the system’s ability to operate without failures over a defined period and ensure its availability when required. Conduct RAMS analyses in accordance with international standards (e.g., EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129). Ensure proper RAMS management across all subsystems of the railway system during design, implementation, and operational phases. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, operations, maintenance) to integrate RAMS requirements into system design and processes. Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact system performance or safety. Prepare and review technical documentation, including RAMS plans, hazard logs, FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analyses, and safety cases. Support the development of maintenance strategies to optimize system availability and lifecycle cost. Participate in audits, assessments, and reviews related to RAMS compliance and performance. Qualifications Profile: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field). Proven experience in RAMS engineering, preferably in the railway or transportation sector. Strong knowledge of RAMS methodologies and standards (e.g., EN 50126/8/9, IEC 61508). Experience with RAMS tools and software (e.g., ReliaSoft, RAM Commander, or similar). Senior profile, with at least 5 years of professional experience in RAMS projects for railway system. Required Skills: Language requested: English (Technical) Advance excel level is requested Strong knowledge of energy efficiency methodologies and standardized measures. Ability to apply verification concepts, including evidence gathering, materiality, assurance levels, verification planning, and identification of inaccuracies. High attention to detail and accuracy in technical reporting. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. High level of integrity and sense of responsibility. Effective communication and collaboration skills in remote and multidisciplinary environments. Ability to work independently and manage multiple remote audits simultaneously. Ensures work area in GBS is kept clean and presentable at all times. Remains familiar with SGS quality assurance procedures. Complies to all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.
