Position Summary The Database Administrator (DBA) at Allianz Technology Malaysia, Regional Delivery Center (RDC) is responsible for the effective design, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of database systems for Allianz OEs within the Asia Pacific Region, primarily Oracle databases and other database technologies such as but not limited to MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, IBM DB2, MySQL and databases. The role requires primarily Oracle database and broad knowledge of other database technologies with ability to manage diverse database environments particularly cloud-based solutions to ensure their performance, availability, security and scalability. Key Responsibilities Database Design and Implementation: Design and implement database structures to support business applications and ensure data integrity. Installation and Configuration: Install and configure database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB. Performance Monitoring: Monitor database performance across various platforms and identify bottlenecks, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required. Perform tuning tasks to optimize database operations and resource utilization. Security Management: Implement and maintain database security measures to protect data from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with security policies. Regularly update database security protocols to counter emerging threats. Compliance with regulatory requirements and internal data management policies. Backup and Recovery: Develop, implement, and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data protection and availability. Test backup and recovery plans regularly to ensure data integrity and availability. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data integrity problems, and connectivity issues. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to support database applications and optimize performance. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve database performance and efficiency through tuning and optimization. Cloud Management: Deploy, manage, and monitor cloud-based infrastructure. Implement and manage cloud security measures to protect data and systems. Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Global Collaboration: Work with global teams to manage and deliver globally managed services. Coordinate with global teams to ensure alignment and consistency in service delivery. Any other duties when deemed necessary. Completing projects on various issues when needed. Key requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. This role may require on-call availability and working outside regular hours to resolve critical issues or perform scheduled maintenance. Must Have Technical Skill sets At least 5 years of proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a related role. Strong understanding of database management systems (DBMS) and database technologies. Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization. Experience with database backup and recovery procedures. Familiarity with database monitoring and performance tuning tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Additional requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. The position may involve collaboration with remote teams and vendors to ensure effective database support and integration This role required to be standby and on on-call support. This role required to provide cross country support. Nice to have skills Certifications in database technologies or related areas (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator) are a plus.
