POSITION SUMMARY:

The Finance Clerk for the Aboriginal Health & Wellness Centre of Winnipeg, Inc. will work as part of the Management team under the direction of the Finance Officer. The Finance Clerk is responsible for the accounts payable/receivable as well as payroll functions. Under the direction of the Finance Officer, the Finance Clerk will ensure that activities are undertaken in a manner that is consistent with and complementary to the Vision Statement, the Principles and Values, and the policies and procedures of the Aboriginal Health & Wellness Centre of Winnipeg, Inc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years in a computerized accounting environment required.
  • Completed Post Secondary Education with a preference for Finance, Accounting, or Business.
  • Experience and Training in computerized financial management systems (Quickbooks)
  • Proven ability to utilize Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, etc.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to work effectively in an environment that requires the ability to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills to work effectively under stressful conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills gained through working with diverse groups, individuals and organizations.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and previous experience in data entry.
  • Experience in invoicing and accounts payable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Traditional Aboriginal values, beliefs, and healing approaches.
  • An understanding of relevant municipal, provincial and federal legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Valid Driver’s license and a vehicle are considered an asset.
  • The ability to speak an Aboriginal language is a definite asset.
  • Criminal record and adult and child abuse registry check.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Complete payments of expenses by receiving processing, verifying, tracking outgoing payments, and reconciling statements
  • Prepares and verifies all accounts payable Transactions. Correspond with Vendors
  • Maintain files and records to be audit-ready
  • Maintain the computerized accounting system (QuickBooks)
  • Verify and record Employee’s expense Reports for all Programs
  • Prepare and Enter Journal Entries
  • Complete administrative duties relating to the Finance Department and Management Office
