POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Real Estate Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the financial reporting, accounting, and analysis for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. The Real Estate Accountant will ensure accurate financial records, compliance with GAAP, and provide meaningful insights to support management in decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3–5+ years of accounting experience (real estate or property management strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
Proficiency in property management/accounting software (Yardi, MRI, Infor, AppFolio, or similar).
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS
CPA or progress toward CPA designation a plus.
Experience with CAM reconciliations, real estate tax, and utility billing.
Familiarity with commercial and/or residential lease structures.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
Record and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank accounts.
Review tenant leases to ensure accurate billing of rent, CAM charges, utilities, and other recoveries.
Process and reconcile security deposits, tenant move-ins/move-outs, and lease-related accounting adjustments.
Assist in preparation of CAM reconciliations, real estate tax reconciliations, and tenant billings.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes for property operations and capital expenditures.
Maintain fixed asset schedules and track capital projects.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant regulations.
Collaborate with property managers, leasing teams, and executives to resolve tenant and vendor issues.
Assist with audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements.
Provide financial analysis to support property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing.
