URGENT: We are seeking a full-time, permanent Real Estate Law Clerk with strong experience in residential and commercial real estate transactions. Experience in private lending and mortgage enforcement is preferred and an asset. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage tasks independently in a fast-paced legal environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent education
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in real estate law
  • Strong knowledge of private lending, mortgage enforcement, and the Rules of Civil Procedure an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, legal software, and electronic filing systems
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities
  • Conducting and reviewing title and off-title searches; ordering title insurance from major providers
  • Coordinating closings, preparing signing documents for individual and corporate borrower
  • Requesting and following up on funds from lenders; resolving funding issues
  • Communicating with clients, brokers, lenders, and other law offices
  • Preparing trust ledgers and reports for lender clients
  • Following up on undertakings given and received
  • Drafting and preparing documents for private mortgage transactions (e.g., commitment letters, promissory notes, mortgages, GSAs, PPSAs)
  • Drafting legal documents for mortgage enforcement, including demand letters, notices of sale, statements of claim, default judgments, writs of possession, and motion records
  • Filing and serving court documents through court portals
  • Managing files through all stages of the power of sale process
  • Monitoring court deadlines and limitation periods
  • Maintaining accurate records and using legal practice management software
  • Supporting lawyers with residential purchase, sale, and refinance transactions
  • Working independently, taking initiative, and managing daily responsibilities with minimal supervision
