Position Overview: Douglas Law is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Real Estate Law Clerk to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in real estate transactions, a strong understanding of Ontario real estate law, and the ability to manage complex files independently. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, proficiency in legal software, and a commitment to providing top-tier service to our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent certification from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a real estate law clerk, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ontario real estate law and transaction procedures.
  • Proficiency in legal software such as Teraview, Conveyancer, and Lawyer Done Deal
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of residential and commercial real estate transactions from start to finish.
  • Prepare, review, and process legal documents, including agreements of purchase and sale, mortgage documents, title searches, and closing documents.
  • Conduct due diligence, including title and off-title searches, and review of surveys, zoning, and corporate documents.
  • Liaise with clients, real estate agents, lenders, and other parties involved in the transaction to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Assist lawyers with the preparation of closing agendas, statements of adjustments, and closing reports.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and firm policies.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior law clerks and support staff.
  • Stay updated with changes in real estate law and industry practices.
