Assessing risk associated with deals and communicating with clients. Maintain phone queue and responds to client inquiries providing detailed coverage information.

Here’s how you’ll contribute:

  • Provide underwriting support to internal and external customers in a timely, professional manner by maintaining the phone queue and reviewing title requisitions, surveys, title and off-title searches; provide pre-approvals to Account Managers, Lawyers, Mortgage Brokers, Realtors, Purchasers and Vendors.
  • Review policy orders, communicate with external sources to identify fraudulent transactions by contacting the solicitor’s on record, lenders and the Insured, as necessary, obtain sub-searches and use an identity authentication service, if required.
  • Prepare and explain non-standard Schedule B exceptions and Endorsements and confer with Solicitors.
  • Assist in the issuance of Managed Mortgage Solutions policies by reviewing title searches, commitments to insure, writ of execution searches and surveys.
  • Maintain knowledge of FCT’s underwriting guidelines by attending and participating in underwriting meetings; keep up to date with new or revised statutes across Canada.

Here’s what you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a real estate law firm
  • Specialized and technical knowledge of the practice of real estate law, including a sound understanding of the mechanics of a real estate transaction, and knowledge of Land Titles
  • Professional and customer service focused with strong communication skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills
