OWS Law is a dynamic and client-focused law firm specializing in real estate, corporate, and estate planning services. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Real Estate Lawyer to join our team and support a variety of residential and commercial transactions across Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and advise on Agreements of Purchase and Sale for residential and commercial properties.
  • Conduct title searches, review title reports, and resolve issues related to encumbrances, liens, or easements.
  • Prepare, review, and register documents including Transfers, Charges, Discharges, and Title Insurance policies.
  • Coordinate the entire closing process, including the preparation of Statements of Adjustments and reporting to clients and lenders.
  • Liaise with clients, lenders, realtors, and other lawyers to ensure seamless and timely completion of transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Law Society of Ontario’s Rules of Professional Conduct, particularly regarding joint retainers and title insurance disclosures.
  • Provide legal advice related to land transfer tax, HST, Planning Act compliance, and condominium law.
  • Maintain accurate records and files in accordance with best practices and LSO guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience practicing law in Ontario.
  • Proficiency in real estate software systems such as Unity, Teraview, and Conveyancer.
  • Strong understanding of relevant statutes: Land Titles Act, Planning Act, Land Transfer Tax Act, Condominium Act, etc.
  • Exceptional drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple files independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) or other language skills are considered an asset.

  • Strong legal drafting abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in conducting research using various tools and databases, including Lexis-Nexis.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to facilitate successful agreements.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports that communicate complex information effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
