Description
Ever wonder how a garden center stays stocked with beautiful plants and supplies? It's not magic-it's Receiving Assistants like you! O'Toole's Garden Centers is looking for a Seasonal Receiving Assistant to help keep our inventory flowing smoothly during peak season. If you enjoy working behind the scenes, staying organized, and don't mind lifting the occasional bag of soil (or ten), we'd love to have you on board! 📍 Where? Lakewood & Westminster, Colorado 📅 When? Seasonal Position - Starting March 1st and ending on or before June 30, 2026 What You'll Be Doing (Besides Building Those Arm Muscles) In addition to receiving responsibilities, this role supports broader store operations by helping move products, set up displays, and maintain outdoor work areas during the busy spring season. Unloading Like a Pro - Assist with receiving and unloading incoming shipments. Bonus points if you can do it with style. Keeping It Accurate - Verify shipments against invoices and report any discrepancies. (No one likes missing inventory!) Organizing the Chaos - Maintain a clean and well-organized receiving area because clutter = stress. Handling the Not-So-Perfect Stuff - Process damaged or missing inventory claims as needed. Tracking Inventory Like a Detective - Help keep product availability updated so the right departments stay in the loop. Caring for Plants Like a Green Thumb-in-Training - Ensure proper handling of incoming plant products to keep them happy and healthy. Scheduling Smarts - Coordinate receiving schedules with vendors to prevent bottlenecks and traffic jams. Supporting the Store Team - Help with restocking, moving products, and making sure everything flows smoothly. Helping with the Dirt Line - Assist with stocking soil, mulch, and other bulk bagged products, including jumping in to support the dirt line when things get busy. Setting the Stage for Plants - Help set up and maintain outdoor plant display areas by moving pallets, cinder blocks, tables, and product displays so everything looks great for customers. Keeping Outdoor Spaces Tidy - Assist with general store upkeep including sweeping, organizing outdoor areas, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Team Player Across Departments - During peak periods you may jump in to support other departments, including basic customer service or cashier support when needed. Keeping the Store Flowing - Work with team members across departments to keep operations running smoothly during high-volume seasonal periods. Getting Your Steps In - This is a physically active role that involves frequent lifting, pushing, and moving heavier items like soil, plants, and display materials. Following Safety First Rules - Because getting squished by a pallet of soil is not part of the job description. 🌿 What We're Looking For (Besides Someone Who Can Lift Heavy Things and Still Smile) Must-haves: High school diploma or equivalent (Yes, passing high school finally pays off!) At least 1 year of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations (If you know your way around a pallet, we're interested!) Ability (or willingness) to learn how to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and electronic pallet jack (These are just fancy names for "big, cool equipment you get to drive") Strong attention to detail - because a missing shipment is a big deal. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (Think of it as a built-in workout!) Ability to stay on your feet for the entire shift (We'll keep you moving, no need for a gym membership!) Weekend & peak seasonal availability - this is our busiest time, so we need all hands on deck! Basic computer skills for inventory tracking (If you can handle online shopping, you've got this.) Ability to read, write, and communicate in English for safety instructions, inventory documentation, and coordinating with vendors & teammates. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus (because helping more people = extra awesome!). Why You'll Love It Here: $20/hr - Because we value the work you do! Get your steps in - Who needs a treadmill when you've got a warehouse to cover? Be part of a great team - No lone wolves here, we work together! It's never boring - Every day is different, and there's always something to do. 🌸 Our Seasonal Garden of Benefits 🌸 35% Employee Discount - finally justify bringing home another plant. 🪴 Flexible Scheduling - because life isn't always as predictable as a watering schedule. 🌻 Work-Life Balance - we get it... you have a life outside the garden center. 🌳 Growth Potential - watch your career bloom right alongside the begonias. 🌱 If you're ready to lift, organize, and help keep our stores stocked for the season, apply today!
