The receiving clerk assures on-time, cost effective and accurate undamaged delivery of proofs, samples, and finished products to customers. Assures receipt of ordered goods and materials and their storage and/or distribution to the departments requisitioning or using them in various production processes. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities Utilizing the shipping system to process shipments, including packages and skids Loading and unloading delivery trucks if needed Operating a forklift Receiving paper and other print related supplies Utilizing the PO system to output purchase orders to confirm proper product is being received Communicating quickly and clearly and discrepancies or damaged product Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receivable standards Help with daily workload of jobs running and ensuring details are followed on packaging and labeling of finished product Help coordinate shipping of jobs to and from outside vendors Communicate details of shipping information are not on the job ticket Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates Adjusts errors and complaints Be available to cover for different areas of the department when needed All other duties as assigned Requirements Skills and Abilities Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and on to three years related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Warehouse/manufacturing experience highly preferred. Previous experience in processing shipments a plus; print/paper experience helpful. Experience operating a forklift is required. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents; write employee communication pieces and routine business correspondence; speak effectively before a group of peers and ability to communicate with a broad range of audiences (senior management level to front-line production employees. Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Reasoning ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Other Skills and abilities: Good judgement and decision-making ability. Ability to use specialized computer software. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work flexible hours Physical Requirements Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending. Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination. Requires near visual acuity. Requires working around and operating departmental equipment. Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility. Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances
