Description

An opportunity has arisen to join our Reception Team based at Meadowfield. We are looking to recruit highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our small reception team. The hours we are looking to recruit into are Monday 4.30 - 7.30pm, Thursday 1-7.30pm, Friday 7am-7.30pm, Saturday 7am -7.30pm and Sunday 7am -7.30pm. The shifts can be split into 6 hour am or pm patterns.
This role is varied and provides crucial support for the smooth running of the hospital. The post holders will display a flexible and highly organised manner with a professional and courteous approach with a can-do attitude.
The successful applicants will be required to demonstrate that they have the relevant experience together with good organisational skills, an excellent telephone/communication manner and an understanding of confidentiality. They must be able to work well independently, manage changing demands and priorities and also be able to work effectively as part of a team.

They will also need to be an effective communicator when dealing with service users, carers and health and social care professionals demonstrating the ability to deal sensitively with distressed people. Experience of working in a similar environment would be beneficial but not essential.

  • Present a professional and courteous image to all patients, staff and visitors entering and exiting the unit.
  • Ensure the security of the unit is maintained by following correct procedures with regard to staff identity, following visitor procedures and removal of prohibit items and keeping accurate information in accordance with local procedures and protocol.
  • Ensure that any potential security breach is reported to the Senior Nurse on duty
  • Ensure regular checks of alarms are carried out. Ensure that all alarms and related batteries are kept charged.
  • Receive and respond to incoming telephone calls to the unit, relaying messages accurately and promptly.
  • Liaise with outer agency where required such as Police to report any incidents requiring their input.
  • Take part in regular supervision, training and update meetings as defined by the line manager.
  • Participate in any key admin tasks such as uploading or scanning documents and records.
  • Carry out any other appropriately identified task as required by your manager.

To carry out all duties of the role in accordance with the Reception and Security procedures of the Unit and be an effective member of the Reception Team.
To be able to maintain an efficient reception and work with security resources and equipment, maintaining effective monitoring processes and reporting any discrepancies to the senior nurse on duty.
To liaise with all wards and departments on various reception and security matters
