Description:
The Reception & Support Worker is the main point of contact and source for communications and information for the Friendship Centre, including Kokom’s Korner Gift Shop.
This position is responsible for reception and conveying information, social media posts, data entry, and Kokom’s Korner Gift shop customer service and inventory input.
EXPECTED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education in Office Management, Computer Applications and Business Equipment; or demonstrated competency.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office –Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent telephone ethics, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Consumer service experience.
- Ability to use POS systems.
- Other Essential Skills: working with others, problem solving, job task planning and organizing, writing, reading text, document use, finding information, critical thinking, decision making, continuous learning, numeracy and significant memory use.
- Knowledge of the aspirations, value and cultures of urban Indigenous people.
- The ability to work in an ever-changing work environment, be flexible and handle stressful situations as they arise.
- The ability to speak Cree language will be considered an asset.
- Excellent health.

Responsibilities:
Reception & conveying information
· Respond to inquiries via in-person, phone, and email -determine the nature and urgency of the matter, and either provide information or refer to the appropriate source.
· Record and relay messages.
· Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
· Process and distribute electronic communications (Faxes, Email).
· Record registration information as required.
· Sign for deliveries and ensure all mail and packages are distributed accordingly.
· Prepare copies of documents as needed.
· Arrange for maintenance and repair work for office equipment.
· Keep a record of office supply inventory, requisition supplies and materials.
Promotions
· Social media -create content and publish on our social media accounts.
Data Management
· Document specific data relevant to visitor requests and provision of direct front-line services.
· Enter data into pre-populated Statistical Report as well as an on-line database.
Kôkom’s Korner Gift Shop
· Provide customer service –greet customers, advise on products; process sales through a POS system.
· Input inventory into a POS system.
· Display merchandise, ensure shelves and displays are stocked, rotate inventory.
· Reconcile sales at the end of the day.
· Maintain the cleanliness of the shelves and display cases.
General
· Safeguard confidentiality of all appropriate information.
· Sell Break-open tickets, Raffle tickets.
· Replenish and retrieve funds from the Vending machine.
· Other duties relevant to the position may be assigned from time to time.
