Receptionist, Band 2- Emergency Department (Hours 21.48)
Are you enthusiastic, highly motivated and wanting to work for the NHS? If you are looking for a job where you will be kept busy and no day is the same, the Receptionist role could be for you.
This specific job role entails evening shifts (5-9pm), on a set shift pattern which will include working unsocial hours, weekends and Bank Holidays. Unsocial hours worked attract an enhanced rate of pay. You must be able to have a flexible approach and be able to work extra shifts to ensure Reception has optimum Reception cover.
You will be part of a friendly team of approximately 10 Receptionists working in a busy Emergency Department working with a wider multi-disciplinary team. You will be working in a fast paced/ever changing environment.
To provide a comprehensive and efficient Reception service within the Emergency Department.
Register/book in patients, update patient records, make referrals to other departments, using the Trust’s IT system.
Scanning of patient documentation.
Answer telephone enquiries.
Deal with enquiries at Reception that are not necessarily ED related.

Knowledge of TrakCare and other NHS systems - training provided
Competence in IT skills including Outlook and Word
Confidence in dealing with members of the public, all disciplines of hospital staff and other agencies.
Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and act quickly in an emergency situation
Able to work under pressure, problem solve in a changing and challenging environment.
Attention to detail, familiar with medical terminology.
Able to prioritise, work autonomously using own initiative as well as working collaboratively as a team.
Able to deal with the general public in a wide range of situations requiring diplomacy, tact and compassion.
Able to deal with challenging behaviour in a tactful and calm manner.
Capable of learning new skills and adapting to new policies and procedures in an ever changing environment.
Understanding of hospital and basic knowledge of roles in other area
