Description About Us Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a community-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Chicago land’s diverse immigrant and refugee communities. Established in 1981, CMAA is a cornerstone of the “Asia on Argyle” corridor of the Uptown Neighborhood of Chicago with a satellite office in Elgin, IL, providing programs to serve our community across generations. We offer after-school, summer camp, and mentoring programs for young people. For adults, we provide case management and social services, education including English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, job preparation and placement services, and immigration and citizenship case assistance. We connect older adults to in-home care support and community enrichment through our Golden Age Club. Finally, we support entrepreneurs and small businesses as the only AAPI-led Small Business Development Center in Illinois. Job Description Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is seeking two ambitious and detail-oriented Receptionists to work and greet our clients. The Receptionist is to be involved in a variety of daily activities from operations to administrative tasks that will help keep CMAA’s business running smoothly. At the same time, the Receptionist participates in internal audits for all CMAA Departments through data entry, being the main point of contact for social services, and a resource to the community. The positions will be in person at our Uptown office location at 1016 W Argyle St, Chicago, IL for Monday – Friday. The hours are expected to be from 8:30am-12:00pm or 4:00pm-7:00pm. Position is expected to be approximately 15-17 hours a week on average. Requirements Essential Functions & Responsibilities Greets and directs clients to appropriate programs/staff members Manages the daily sign-in logs Manages the order of client appointments in the waiting area Answers incoming calls and screens & directs to appropriate programs/staff members Takes messages from callers and visitors Data entry for different departments Maintains and monitors office/janitorial supplies Provides general administrative and clerical support Handles incoming and outgoing mail Monitors visitors' access and maintains security awareness Handles petty cash Manages checks & cash received and prepares for deposit Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor Qualifications High school diploma preferred Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures Knowledge of computer and data entry is required Bilingual preferred in Cantonese/Mandarin & English while other dialects are a plus Verbal and written communication skills Customer service orientation Initiative Reliability Attention to detail Ability to deal with multiple people at one time Work Environment This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical Demands This is a largely sedentary role, however, some filing is required. This could require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
