Description

Invercargill, New Zealand
Reference: 6764114
Southland has a unique landscape, a close-knit and caring community and is home to some of New Zealand’s most pristine and dynamic environments. We are central to Aotearoa’s playgrounds of Queenstown, Fiordland, and the Catlins. As a regional council, Environment Southland is responsible for leading the sustainable management of Southland’s natural, physical resources - water, land, air and the coast. These resources are vitally important because they underpin both our regional economy and our quality of life.
Working at Environment Southland requires all of our staff to uphold the council’s Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities as part of their day-to-day role. This might be through the appropriate delivery of functions through various legislation where Te Tiriti o Waitangi or partnering with mana whenua is required or upholding the commitments that our elected councillors have made to Ngāi Tahu ki Murihiku through the Charter of Understanding.
Due to a promotion, we are looking for a Receptionist & Customer Support person to join our front office team. You will be the initial friendly point of contact for many of our visitors and callers from across the Southland region and beyond. You will provide reception & customer support services, arrange travel and accommodation requirements for staff across the organisation, assist with records management services, assist with service requests and provide cashier and initial customer service to our ratepayers. This is a key role within our organisation and you will work in a reception team of two, supported by a larger team.
The person we are looking for is likely to have experience in a front-line role, be well presented, confident, and have sound computer skills and telephonist experience, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Being able to work in a tidy, organised fashion, prioritising work, and keeping everyone involved is also a must. Keeping calm and patient will also assist.
You will be rewarded with a competitive salary package, a vibrant and supportive working environment, and ongoing training.
If you are ready for a new adventure, looking for an opportunity to grow your career whilst enjoying all the lifestyle benefits Southland and Environment Southland offers, apply today.
Please upload your CV and cover letter. Your cover letter will be a key part of our assessment process, so please highlight how your experience relates to the key skills required for this role.
