Dalhousie Castle is seeking a professional and personable Receptionist to serve as the welcoming face of our exclusive venue. The ideal candidate will possess high standards, excellent communication skills, and a strong dedication to providing outstanding guest service. As a key team member, you will play a vital role in ensuring that every guest’s experience is both memorable and enjoyable whilst leading from the front.
Dalhousie Castle is Scotland’s oldest inhabitable castle, a beautiful wedding and meetings venue, with 35 bedrooms, a dramatic dungeon restaurant, picturesque gardens and spa. The hotel is undergoing an exciting refurbishment project to elevate our guests experience whilst preserving everthing that you already love about Dalhousie. We’re refreshing interiors, enhancing comfort, and reimagining key spaces with elegance, history, and storytelling at the heart.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated experience in a receptionist or front desk position at a luxury or exclusive venue, such as a five-star hotel or resort.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating a strong ability to build rapport with guests and team members.
  • Strong organisational skills and a careful approach to managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle guest issues gracefully and professionally.
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset paired with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency in using hotel management software and basic computer applications.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome guests with a warm and friendly demeanour, ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Manage the front desk operations, including check-ins, check-outs, and reservations, whilst maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Respond quickly to guest inquiries and requests, offering valuable insights about the castle, its amenities, and local attractions.
  • Handle telephone and email communications professionally, swiftly addressing guest needs and concerns.
  • Support all departments by coordinating with housekeeping and maintenance to ensure that guest rooms and public areas are prepared for guests.
  • Keep the front desk area organised and efficient, making sure that all records and documentation are maintained and filed accurately.
  • Assist with guest services, including arranging transportation, recommending activities, and accommodating any special requests.
  • Uphold health and safety standards within the reception area to ensure a secure environment for guests and staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and lead by example to foster a positive and cohesive working atmosphere.
