Job Title: Receptionist / Dental Nurse
Location: Loughton Dental Centre, Loughton, IG10 4HT
Pay: £12.20-£15 per hour (dependent on experience)

We are currently looking for a new team member to join us in a dual role as a Receptionist and Dental Nurse. POSITION OVERVIEW:

This exciting role involves a balance between reception duties and dental nursing responsibilities. You will spend two days a week working as a dental nurse and two days a week managing the reception area. The successful candidate will be organised, able to communicate effectively with both patients and staff, and committed to providing excellent care.

  • Excellent communication skills, both on the phone and in person, with a professional and friendly attitude.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and take initiative when necessary.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Previous experience in a dental setting is desirable, but not essential.
  • A caring and empathetic approach to patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported during their visit.

Responsibilities

RECEPTION DUTIES:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Manage patient appointments and scheduling efficiently, ensuring smooth clinic operations.
  • Handle patient inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email, providing accurate and timely information.
  • Maintain patient records securely and accurately, ensuring compliance with data protection standards.
  • Process payments and insurance claims in a timely manner.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, including managing the clinic’s daily operations and maintaining office supplies.

DENTAL NURSING DUTIES:

  • Ensure clinical areas, equipment, and instruments are cleaned, sterilised, and organised according to the practice’s health and safety and infection control procedures.
  • Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines and ensure it is regularly maintained.
  • Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures, ensuring the correct equipment is available.
  • Ensure the care and welfare of patients, offering reassurance and support throughout their visit.
  • Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed by the dentist or clinical team.
  • Handle substances in line with health and safety policies (including PPE, COSHH, mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal).
  • Develop and file radiographs and change radiographic solutions as required.
  • Complete laboratory request forms and keep records of work sent, received, and fitted.
