Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Our rich history and strong community support pave the way for the future of healthcare as we serve you—our family, friends, and neighbors.   Position Summary: The receptionist is responsible for answering phones, scheduling appointments, routing calls, creating patient cases, and taking appropriate information from patient. The use of communication skills to clarify patient needs and understanding of provider appointment needs are imperative.     Essential Functions: 1. Determines the type of appointment requested or needed, reviews scheduling mix of various physicians/providers, and makes appointment utilizing appropriate guidelines.  2. Utilizes superior customer service skills to provide service to patients when diffusing difficult encounters.  3. Determine if calls are urgent or emergent by listening to the patient, following established guidelines, and then transferring the call to a nurse when appropriate. 4.  Composes messages for physician/providers, nurses or other medical staff based on member requests.  5. Performs clerical duties which may include scheduling new patient appointments, processing self-referral requests, calling patients to cancel and reschedule appointments. 6. Answers basic insurance/financial questions and refers the difficult questions to the billers. 7. Works closely with patient advisory and/or nursing staff to ensure timely and effective appointment scheduling.  The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital’s goals and objectives.   Position Requirements: * High school graduate  * At least one year of general office experience is preferred. * Excellent customer service skills are a requirement   Position Information: Location: 727 E.
