Description

We are looking for someone to join our friendly team at Leeds City Medical Practice. The practice is committed to the development of all staff and will support you to maximise your full potential.
You will be the first point of contact for our 19.5K patients and visitors in the practice on the phones and face to face. Assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way. Project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors at all times.
Provide general assistance and undertake administrative duties required to support to the Practice Team in order that the practice runs smoothly and efficiently.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To be polite and professional at all times, in what can at times can be difficult or emotional situations with both patients and colleagues
  • To carry out all duties accurately, in a timely manner in line with practice protocols and in line with deadlines
  • Be able to work as a team and your own initiative
  • To accurately record details on the medical records system
  • To take full responsibility for areas of work assigned and to help others to complete all required tasks within the practice
  • To take responsibility for any patient enquiry and follow through to conclusion
  • To always deal with patient information in a confidential manner in line with the practice policy
  • To book appropriate appointments for today & future from patient requests
  • Carry out administrative duties which include scanning, tasks, out of hours reports, new patient registrations, opening and sorting post, hospital letters to name a few
  • To deal with requests from GPs, Nurses and other members of the Primary Health Care Team as requested
  • To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice Policies & Procedures.
  • To be vigilant in reporting anything of concern to safeguard children or vulnerable adults
  • To ensure always up to date with all mandatory training
  • To carry out any other duties which may from time to time be required for the efficient running of the surgery
  • Taking payments for private documents from patients and provide receipts
  • Communicate effectively with local pharmacies
  • Informing patients of test results and follow up with instructions from clinicians
  • Treat all patients fairly and with respect
  • Provide cover across sites

Applicants must have a minimum GCSE in both Maths and English or equivalent. The practice currently operates over 2 local sites, and staff must be willing to work from wherever they are needed. Hours will be Monday to Friday 12noon - 18.00pm. Occasionally services are offered outside of those hours and staff are paid overtime to cover these additional services sometimes at an enhanced rate.
