Position Summary:
The Receptionist plays a key role in delivering exceptional client service and supporting the overall operations of the office. This position involves managing the reception desk, greeting visitors and program participants, and providing administrative support for events and meetings. The Receptionist will assist with event setup, coordination, logistics, and RSVP lists, as well as support special events as needed. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support events.

  • Greet participants and visitors with a professional and welcoming attitude.
  • Manage the reception desk, including handling and redirecting inquiries, and ensuring efficient office communication.
  • Assist with the setup and coordination of events, workshops, and meetings.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy, well-organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Assist with office organization tasks to maintain an efficient work environment.
  • Solve problems and troubleshoot issues as they arise, coordinating with security, building services, or making arrangements to resolve any challenges promptly.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Exceptional client service and communication skills. Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive information and address challenges with agility. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events. Prior experience in a receptionist or customer service role. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.
