Newent Doctors Practice has an exciting opportunity for a part time receptionists to join our expanding doctors practice in Newent, which is just 8 miles from the city of Gloucester on the edge of beautiful Gloucestershire. We are looking for a enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated individuals to join our reception team.
A GP receptionist is an essential part of the team and is much more than booking appointments and our receptionist is often the first person who will offer support and help to our patients. Working as part of the practice team you will also be responsible for supporting Doctors, Nurses and other clinicians to ensure the smooth running of their clinics.

ABOUT US

Newent Doctors Practice is a ten General Practitioner Practice with approximately 12000 patients. We have a team of 42 staff including Receptionists, Dispensers, Practice Nurses, Phlebotomist’s, Clinical Pharmacists and Healthcare Assistants, Secretarial and Administrative Staff, Reception Manager and Practice Manager. We are part of the Tewkesbury, Newent, Staunton and West Cheltenham Primary Care Network (TWNS).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job responsibilities:

  • Receiving patients who have appointments with members of the practice team
  • Process computerised appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person
  • Deal with urgent and routine visit requests and pass on requests to doctors or district nurses in a timely manner
  • Perform scanning and coding duties as part of the paper management system
  • Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary
  • To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures
  • To work in accordance with written protocols
  • Pulling/filing notes and computer printouts for surgeries and visits when necessary
  • Filing post in medical records or elsewhere, when required to do so
  • Fax and photocopy as requested
  • Have working knowledge of telephone/bleep system, during and after hours
  • Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers

We are ideally looking for an enthusiastic person with existing reception skills, who are flexible, willing to cover colleagues leave when required. You are welcome to apply if you do not have experience, as a complete training programme will be provided.
