Responsibilities

RECEPTIONIST/PATIENT CARE ADVISOR – FRONT-LINE ROLE IN GENERAL PRACTICE

In this essential front-line role at the practice, Patient Care Advisors play a key part in helping patients access the right services, maintaining accurate health records, and ensuring appointments and prescriptions are well-managed. This is a patient-facing role, with demand primarily managed via footfall rather than telephone.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcoming and directing patients in person, ensuring a friendly and professional first impression.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for patients, providing guidance and support with empathy and discretion.
  • Managing appointments, queries, and patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Processing, issuing, and handling prescription requests, ensuring they are dealt with efficiently and in line with practice protocols.
  • Liaising with clinical staff to support the smooth running of daily operations.
  • Handling requests for information and assisting with problem-solving and complaints.
  • Advising patients on practice procedures and services.
  • Registering new patients and updating records.
  • Maintaining patient databases, including summarising, filing, and scanning documentation.
  • Answering the telephone when required, though the role is primarily focused on face-to-face interactions.
