One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.
We are currently seeking 1 FTE Receptionist/Secretary. This person will act as a valued member of the Community Health Centre team and will be responsible for providing excellent customer service in a fast paced work environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks, respond efficiently when greeting clients and visitors in person and on the phone and working within a team are core tasks for this role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in office or business administration or an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Three to five years’ experience as a Receptionist/Secretary, preferably in a clinical setting or human service organization.
  • Able to work as part of a team while supporting and communicating effectively with co-workers.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which includes weekdays, evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, perform well under stress, and deal with multiple demands and unpredictable delays.
  • Excellent organizational skills, judgement, diplomacy, tact and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of and advanced level of proficiency working with office management systems and procedures.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrates a professional and friendly manner and has experience dealing with the public in a way that is mature, sensitive and helpful both over the telephone and in person.
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology and high proficiency/accuracy in word processing and data entry skills.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to socio-economic and cultural issues.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
