Your role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital St John of God Subiaco Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and professional Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our Subiaco campus. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a highly professional standard of reception and switchboard customer service to all hospital clientele and caregivers. The role is offered on a permanent part-time basis, working up to 30 hours per week The Position: Respond in a fast efficient manner to all emergency calls via switchboard and implement required procedure. Initiate cardiac and respiratory arrest, medical emergency, and Chest Pain Clinic paging in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, provide an efficient internal and external paging service to all page holders, and deliver clear announcements via the Public Address (PA) system in line with hospital requirements Provide calm, professional reception services by greeting and assisting patients and visitors in line with the hospital’s service ethos; manage emergency admissions in accordance with policy; complete administrative tasks such as printing inpatient lists, issuing parking tickets, and processing courier requests; screen after-hours visitors; and maintain a safe front‑of‑house environment by locking doors as required, monitoring security screens and alarm boards, and reporting incidents to relevant personnel. Ensure patient and contact information is accurate and current on webPAS & Internal Directory, by promptly advising the Team Leader, Ward, Admissions, or PHIS of any changes relating to admissions, transfers, or discharges, and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge through regular review of memos, reports, noticeboards, and the Communications book. You will bring demonstrated experience delivering high‑quality reception or front office customer service in a busy environment, including switchboard operations. You will be confident using computer systems and proficient with paging and security equipment, with well‑developed verbal and written communication skills to manage enquiries, handle conflict professionally, and prepare routine correspondence, reports, and memos. You will also display strong customer service skills, with flexibility, tact, and diplomacy, supported by effective planning and organisational abilities to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands. A proactive approach, the ability to use initiative, work with minimal supervision, and a genuine commitment to our service ethos are essential for success in this role.
