MAKAH TRIBE  POSITION DESCRIPTION Temporary/On Call Job Title: Receptionist EXEMPT: No JOB CODE: 4-TS T4 TARGET SALARY: $20.09 to $21.15/DOQ SHIFT: 8:00 – 5:00 DEPARTMENT: General Manager LOCATION: Bldg 12 REPORTS TO: General Manager SUMMARY: Provide receptionist coverage for the Makah Tribe’s primary lobby/receptionist area; greets and directs visitors to Makah Tribal Organization and the General Manager’s Office; operates the main switchboard; develops knowledge and basic understanding of various Tribal programs and staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities. Operates Verizon Yealink telephone console to direct callers to destination and if unavailable may take messages by recording name, time of call, nature of Business, and person called upon. Responsible for using internal messaging and calendar systems to notify staff of visitors and schedule appointments, if needed. May compose and/or review, edit, type, word process, and proofread a wide variety of correspondence, reports, summaries, and memorandums; using proper format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, spelling, grammar, and style. Perform a variety of clerical tasks including, data input, generating labels, maintain current telephone directory and assembling packets of materials, etc.  Photocopy’s, collates, and distributes bulk mailings. Responsible for the general maintenance of the telephone, copy machine, and reporting trouble codes to the service center. May occasionally assist with scheduling use of rental facilities, accept fees and deposits and issue keys. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum of one-year receptionist experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of community members or employees of the organization. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to handle multi-line switchboard equipment in an efficient and courteous manner. Ability to type a minimum of 35 wpm with accuracy. Certification of typing/keyboarding ability is required. Ability to use Microsoft Office software for production of documents. Excellent verbal and written communication skills include proofreading, spelling, and grammar; punctuation, and sentence construction skills. Interpersonal skill to effectively interact with all levels of diverse work-force and clientele via telephone and personal contact, in a courteous, helpful and effective manner, contributing to a positive work environment. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work, handles multiple assignments simultaneously, and changes from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Must submit to and clear a pre-employment alcohol and drug test and random testing, in accordance with the Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Act of 2002. PHYSICAL DEMANDS  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  WORK ENVIRONMENT  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions.
